WordPress FAQs

Can my existing website be converted to WordPress?
In most cases, the answer is yes, but it may require a few slight modifications. Give us a call and we’ll review your site and be able to tell you.

What is the difference between a post and a page?
A Post is a part of an on-going series of entries that are categorized and are usually associated to some point in time. For example, you would write a post about the opening of a new location or any other recent company news. Pages differ from posts in that their information is, in a sense, timeless, such as information about products or services, contact information, or a history of your company.

Can I add photos or other images and display it in a post or a page?
Yes. For a complete walk-through of how to upload images to your site, visit the Support section of our website and click on either the Write a Page, Write a Post, or Using Photopress tutorials, depending on your specific needs.

Can I link to other websites?
Yes. When linking to another site in a post or page simply highlight the text you want to be a link and click on the chain link button on the Visual Editor. Enter the url and choose Open in New Window. When linking to another site using a Blogroll, click on the Blogroll tab and click on the Add Link Tab. Enter your url and click Add Link.

How do I format bullets and lists?
In the Visual editing tab you can format bullets and lists by clicking on the bullet or numbered list icons and typing your list.

How do I keep text from crowding my photos?
In order to keep text from crowding place a 10 pixel border around the image. You can do this by clicking on the image, clicking on the tree icon on the Visual editing tab, and enter 10 pixels in the vertical and horizontal space options.

What if I lose some of my content?
Whenever you make changes to your site our Content Management System automatically saves a copy to the server every 60 seconds, so you don’t have to worry about accidentally losing content should something happen while you are in the process of editing. Our Content Management System also backs up your website content daily so if you feel like you’ve lost important content while editing your site, we can restore your site to the previous day.

How do I change my password?
Click on My Profile on the Dashboard, scroll to the Update Your Password section, enter new password and click Update Profile.

Do I need any special software to utilize WordPress?
No. However, we do recommend using Firefox as other browsers can have issues rendering the WYSIWYG editor.
